BACKGROUND: Engagement in health-promoting behaviors (HPB) among patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is important, particularly for the high-and-very-high-risk group. However, information concerning HPB and risk of cardiovascular events among patients with CVD is limited. AIM: This study aimed to explore HPB and risk of cardiovascular events among patients with CVD. METHODS: A cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted among adults with confirmed CVD (n = 167) using multistage cluster sampling. Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile 2 and World Health Organization/International Society of Hypertension Risk Prediction Chart were used for measuring HPB and cardiovascular risk levels. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation, one-way ANOVA and multiple linear regression tests. RESULTS: Women, marriage, low income, and hypertension dominated with 60 years as mean age. Among the subscales of HPB, interpersonal relationship had the highest score while physical activity in the poorest score and almost half of the respondents had a low-risk of cardiovascular events. There was a significant correlation between the nutrition subscale and cardiovascular risk levels and it showed significant difference between low-and high/ very- high-risk groups of cardiovascular events. Although the risk of cardiovascular events did not demonstrate prediction of HPB, age (β _= 0.250; CI = 0.001–0.013), educational level (β _= 0.200; CI = 0.005–0.107), presence of diabetes (β _= 0.183; CI = 0.013–0.286), and smoking (β _= –0.195; CI = –0.372–[–0.005]) explained 20.7% of the HPB variance. CONCLUSION: Therefore, the authorities of stakeholders need to consider that a tailor-made health-promoting program should be proposed particularly to increase physical activity and promotes healthy nutrition among patients with CVD. Furthermore, considering special needs among patients with CVD are crucial to support them within their cultural perspective.

Volunteers are individuals who voluntarily donate their time and effort to make a positive contribution to others without expecting financial or material rewards. The roles of volunteers before a disaster (pre-disaster) is as supporters in policy formulation, planning, disaster risk reduction, and community disaster prevention and preparedness. This community service (PKM) aims to provide education about the role of volunteers, especially health volunteers, in helping people affected by disasters. The PKM activity was aimed at listeners of the Kiprah Indonesia program, which was broadcasted on Program 1 of the LPP RRI Malang Culture Channel. This PKM activity took the form of a talk show held live at the Kiprah Indonesia event on the Culture Channel Program 1 RRI Malang 105.3 FM, and was also broadcast via live streaming on the official RRI Malang Youtube channel. The community service (PKM) was carried out on December 29, 2022, by broadcasting live on the Kiprah Indonesia event on Program 1 Culture Channel LPP RRI Malang 105.3 FM. The PKM program was a radio talk show. Health education provided by this radio talk show was expected to increase public knowledge about the disaster management cycle, the definition/understanding of volunteers in disaster management, the working principles of volunteers, the five pillars of volunteers in disaster management, the task/duties of volunteer organizations, volunteer management, and also landslide and flood disaster mitigation. One type of cardiovascular disease that often occurs is coronary heart disease. Although the coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedure can help overcome coronary heart disease problems, the post-CABG recovery stage can also lead to an increase in angina symptoms (chest pain), decreased ability to exercise, and mostly in the Quality of dimension life. The purpose of this literature review is to determine the effectiveness of the PRECEDE educational model in reducing depression and improving quality of life in patients with coronary heart disease who have CABG. This idea seems reasonable was carried out by searching through databases in PubMed and ScienceDirect until May 13, 2020, for nursing studies in chronic heart disease patients with CABG. Two articles were found that were suitable for a literature review. Findings from the literature suggest that designing educational interventions according to the PRECEDE model significantly improves all aspects of a patient's quality of life. Providing educational programs with the PRECEDE model can reduce depression in patients with CABG. This PRECEDE educational model can reduce depression and increase QoL in patients with Coronary heart disease who have undergone CABG.
