“…We are guided by the question, whether and how this case study provides empirical substantiation of Subotić’s concept of “normative divergence” between local aims, on the one hand, and national and international aims, on the other. Ferdonije’s activism and message seemingly challenges the imperative of “multi-ethnicity” enshrined in Kosovo’s 2008 constitution; international and governmental policies, rhetoric and national strategies aimed at promoting Albanian-Serb dialogue, reconciliation, and political normalization; the efforts of regional reconciliation initiatives such as RECOM 2 led by prominent activists including from Serbia; and leading Kosovar civil society representatives who, since 2016 with presidential support, support transitional justice efforts in inter-ethnically inclusive terms (Ahmetaj and Unger 2017; Halili 2016; Shaipi 2016; CRDP 2017).
