Konfirmasi Hasil Osmotic Fragility Test (Oft) Berdasarkan Kadar Hemoglobin

Abstract

Erythrocyte fragility is the reaction of the erythrocyte membrane to oppose the osmotic pressure of the surrounding solution. Several influencing factors are haemoglobin levels, erythrocyte shape, erythrocyte lifespan, and lipoprotein content of the erythrocyte membrane. The purpose of the study was to determine the results of the osmotic fragility test (OFT) based on haemoglobin levels. The research method was descriptive with a population of Unimus MLT students. A sample of 20 people and specimens in the form of venous blood was checked for Hb levels using a haematology analyser and OFT levels using a series of test tube dilutions. The results showed that the average OFT levels were 0.37±1.67 and Hb levels were 13.39±0.01. Complete lysis occurred with OFT level 0.46% at Hb level ≥15 g/dl. In conclusion, OFT levels and average Hb levels are still within normal limits, there are 4 Hb levels below normal or mild anemia with normal OFT levels, while Hb levels ≥15 g/dl have OFT levels above normal.
