Komplikationen faltbarer Intraokularlinsen mit der Folge der Explantation von 1998 und 1999 Ergebnisse einer Fragebogenauswertung

Abstract: In addition to the most common complications such as decentration and incorrect IOL power observed in rigid IOLs, new complications associated with foldable IOLs occurred such as optic opacification, glare and photic phenomena. Some complications seemed to appear in particular IOL types (opacification: SC-60BOUV, MDR), while others were observed in all types of foldable lenses. Accurate calculation of the IOL power and further improvement of the IOL material and design seem to be necessary to minimise the rate… Show more

“…In the past 5 years, IOL opacification has emerged as a common indication for IOL exchange. [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17] We implanted 152 single-piece SC60B-OUV foldable hydrophilic acrylic IOLs in 149 patients (bilateral in 3 patients) between March 1998 and January 1999. Implantation of this type of IOL was discontinued when changes in the IOL were first noticed in a patient.…”
