Knowledge Management System Adoption to Improve Decision-Making Process in Higher Learning Institutions in the Developing Countries: A Conceptual Framework

Abstract: Currently, higher learning institutions (HLIs) are facing their most challenging problem in inefficient information management. The knowledge management system (KMS) application calls for providing several benefits to lecturers and students, producing daily information, documenting records for evidence of a transaction, and eventually improving the decision-making process. Knowledge management can be coupled with fuzzy logic to deal with imprecision and uncertainty of data in a KMS. The ICT dynamic development… Show more

“…Our KMS development and implementation process was designed to address several key success factors identified in knowledge management literature [14][15][16][17]. The ease of use and quality of technology have consistently been identified as facilitators of the uptake of information technology solutions [14,17].…”

“…This project also did not comprehensively hypothesize or collect data on the predictors of KMS use or satisfaction. There are current theoretical models and empirical studies on predictors of knowledge management success [14][15][16][17][27][28][29] and uptake of technology [11,30,31]. Future research could more thoroughly apply this work to identify evidence-based predictors of KMS uptake, so that they can be targeted in future interventions.…”

“…A Knowledge Management System (KMS) is a category of Information System used in organizations to manage knowledge with the help of IT-based systems and provide support to processes involving the creation, storage, retrieval, transfer, conversion, protection, and application of knowledge (Oumran et al, 2021).…”

“…KMSs can help HEIs in decision-making processes, and oversee and evaluate educational activities (Oumran et al, 2021). Organizational, technological, or environmental factors contribute to hinder their adoption despite the perceived advantages for KMSs.…”
