Knowledge Domain and Emerging Trends in Ferroptosis Research: A Bibliometric and Knowledge-Map Analysis

ObjectivesTo identify the cooperation and impact of authors, countries, institutions, and journals, evaluate the knowledge base, find the hotspot trends, and detect the emerging topics regarding ferroptosis research.MethodsThe articles and reviews related to ferroptosis were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection on November 1, 2020. Two scientometric software (CiteSpace 5.7 and VOSviewer 1.6.15) were used to perform bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis.ResultsA total of 1,267 papers were included, in 466 academic journals by 6,867 authors in 438 institutions from 61 countries/regions. The ferroptosis-related publications were increasing rapidly. Cell Death & Disease published the most papers on ferroptosis, while Cell was the top co-cited journal, publication journals and co-cited journals were major in the molecular and biology fields. The United States and China were the most productive countries; meanwhile, the University of Pittsburgh, Columbia University and Guangzhou Medical University were the most active institutions. Brent R Stockwell published the most papers, while Scott J Dixon had the most co-citations; simultaneously, active cooperation existed in ferroptosis researchers. Ten references on reviews, mechanisms, and diseases were regarded as the knowledge base. Five main aspects of ferroptosis research included regulation mechanisms, nervous system injury, cancer, relationships with other types of cell death, and lipid peroxidation. The latest hotspots were nanoparticle, cancer therapy, iron metabolism, and in-depth mechanism. Notably Nrf2 might have turning significance. The emerging topics on ferroptosis research were the further molecular mechanism of ferroptosis and the wider application of ferroptosis-related disease with advanced technology.ConclusionThis study performed a full overview of the ferroptosis research using bibliometric and visual methods. The information would provide helpful references for scholars focusing on ferroptosis.

Background Research on Graves ophthalmopathy has increased remarkably over the last 2 decades; however, few statistical analyses of the data presented in these publications have been conducted. Objective This study aims to detect and analyze emerging trends and collaboration networks in Graves ophthalmopathy research. Methods Graves ophthalmopathy–related publications from 1999 to 2019 were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection Database. Collected publications were restricted by category (article or review) and language (English). Bibliometric analyses included changes in the annual numbers of publications, journals, authors, countries, institutions, keywords, and references. Results In total, 3051 publications that met the criteria were collected. The number of annual publications has exhibited an increasing trend over the last 20 years. The journal Thyroid ranked first, publishing 183 Graves ophthalmopathy–related studies. There was no evidence of a relationship between impact factor (IF) and the number of publications (P=.69). The author Smith TJ had the largest number of publications on Graves ophthalmopathy (n=83). Of the countries that had published Graves ophthalmopathy–related articles, the United States had the largest number (n=784) and the highest centrality (0.18). Among institutions, the University of Pisa (Italy) contributed the most Graves ophthalmopathy–related articles (n=114). The most recent burst keywords (proliferation, rituximab, and selenium) and references may provide clues on emerging trends in research and clinical practice. Conclusions This bibliometric analysis highlights countries, institutions, and authors who contributed to Graves ophthalmopathy–related publications. Emerging trends in Graves ophthalmopathy research, based on burst keywords and references, may provide clues relevant to clinical practice and future research.

Wprowadzenie i cel pracy. Ocet jest fermentowanym produktem rozpowszechnionym na całym świecie. Stosowany jest przede wszystkim jako przyprawa w celu wzbogacenia smaku dań oraz utrwalenia żywności w postaci marynat. Ocet może jednak stanowić źródło wielu związków o pozytywnym wpływie na organizm człowieka. Celem pracy jest przybliżenie tematyki związanej z różnego rodzaju octami wytworzonymi z owoców winogron oraz ich właściwości zdrowotnych. Metody przeglądu. Systematycznego przeglądu badań dokonano na podstawie przeszukiwania elektronicznych baz danych takich jak PubMed, Elsevier oraz Google Scholar. Opis stanu wiedzy. Octy owocowe, w tym octy winogronowe, stanowią bogate źródło witamin, związków mineralnych, kwasów organicznych oraz związków polifenolowych, dzięki którym wykazują pozytywne działanie na organizm człowieka. Z racji zawartości związków o działaniu antyoksydacyjnym produkt ten może być stosowany wspomagająco w terapii schorzeń o podłożu wolnorodnikowym, np. chorób układu sercowo-naczyniowego. Skład i jakość produktu finalnego warunkowane są doborem surowca wyjściowego, metodą produkcji, jak i mikroorganizmami biorącymi udział w procesie fermentacji. Octy winogronowe wykazują korzystny wpływ na gospodarkę węglowodanową, obniżając stężenie glukozy na czczo, hemoglobiny A1c, ale również glikemii poposiłkowej. Badania wskazują, że octy winogronowe wpływają również pozytywnie na profil lipidowy, obniżając stężenie cholesterolu całkowitego oraz jego frakcji LDL. Podsumowanie. Octy winogronowe są bogatym źródłem wielu związków bioaktywnych, dzięki czemu mogą być stosowane we wspomaganiu terapii niektórych schorzeń, głównie o podłożu wolnorodnikowym. Zawartość poszczególnych związków w octach winogronowych jest silnie zróżnicowana, a na ich kompozycję wpływa zarówno proces produkcji octu, jak i wykorzystana odmiana winogron.
