Abstract:Purpose-The aim of this paper is to examine the moderating role of information communication technology (ICT) competencies in enhancing knowledge transfer and mitigating the effects of two key knowledge barriers, namely knowledge stickiness and knowledge ambiguity, thereby increasing the firm's innovation competitive advantage. Design/methodology/approach-The study is carried out in the context of the healthcare industry in Taiwan. A total of 160 questionnaires were distributed to hospitals and 112 usable resp… Show more
“…Especially a longitudinal design research with both qualitative and quantitative approaches enables to provide a more comprehensive of the underlying process through which KS affects aspects of innovation and competitive advantage. Knowledge management that includes three components namely knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing, and knowledge application, have important influences on innovation and competitive advantage (Chuang, 2004;Sheng et al, 2013;Lee et al, 2016). However this study only investigates the role of KS in the relationship with related constructs.…”
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of knowledge sharing (KS) and two specific types of innovation on competitive advantage in Vietnamese firms. Based on using structural equation modeling (SEM) and survey data collected from 225 participants, the findings reveal that KS directly and indirectly affects firm's competitive advantage through the mediating role of innovation speed and innovation quality. The findings stress the important role of building a positive climate to stimulate employees for sharing knowledge aimed at improving firm's innovation capability, and sustaining competitive advantage. Future research needs to explore the relationship between three components of knowledge management namely knowledge acquisition, KS, and knowledge application, innovation, and specific aspects of competitive advantage (such as low cost advantage, differentiation advantage, and time advantage) to provide deeper the mechanism of how specifics aspects of knowledge management connected with firm's certain types of competitive advantage through innovation.

“…This barrier emerges when individuals or organizations does not know what knowledge is supposed to be used for [109]. Higher ambiguity leads to poor knowledge transfer since it cannot be easily coded [18,122,123].…”
This paper identify and discuss barriers affecting knowledge management (KM) processes in the oil industry. Based on reviewing the literature on this topic, we used a conceptual model comprising the most important barriers, grouped in three categories-organizational, knowledge and people related-influencing four critical KM processes-creation, storage, share and application. Using factor analysis, we identified which barriers influence the most each of the KM process and what are the practical implications for companies operating in the oil industry. This study provides useful insights regarding knowledge processes barriers, enabling top executives to better cope with factors hindering successful implementation of KM initiatives.
“…In hospitals, knowledge transfer between the health staff is one of the most important knowledge management implementations to improve the employees' tacit knowledge [4,5,6]. Knowledge transfer is the process of sending knowledge from the knowledge source to the knowledge recipients, and acceptance of the transferred knowledge by the recipients [7,8,9]. The quality of health services provided by the health staff could be enhanced through effective and efficient knowledge transfer activities [3,4].…”
Knowledge transfer is vital for the successful organization. Majority of previous studies focused on business and educational organization. Few in the field dealt with knowledge transfer in hospitals. This study aims to develop a conceptual model for knowledge transfer in hospitals. Based on the literature review, this study proposes a conceptual framework for knowledge transfer motivation in hospitals based on three motivational aspects; (i) the extrinsic motivational factors such as the promotions and appraisals, (ii) the intrinsic motivational factors such as the altruism, and absorptive capacity, and (iii) the ideal distribution of extrinsic and intrinsic based on the quality and quantity of knowledge transfer that conducted by the knowledge sources and recipients. The conceptual model was tested using a data collected for a pilot study.
