“…Overall, the perceived improvement in health outcomes and the wrong perception about the safety of E-cigarettes may explain the growing popularity of E-cigarettes [ 5 ]. Unfortunately, E-cigarette users do not view E-cigarette use (vaping) as a harmful habit, and studies have shown that vaping is considered favorably by users concerning overall health perception [ 49 51 ]. Consequently, health professions students need to be well educated about e-cigarettes as they may encounter e-cigarette users when they start their careers as healthcare professionals, so they can make the best patient counseling and clinical judgments.…”

“…The use of EC has risen significantly over the past decade in all age groups, including among never smokers, and EC are now the most popular tobacco product among teenagers, both globally and in the United States 1,2,22 . Based on reports of a variety of possible deleterious effects of EC vaping on oral health, 9,10,23–25 we hypothesized that healthy EC vapers would exhibit changes in the histology and mRNA and miRNA transcriptome of biopsies of the oral mucosa compared to that of healthy NS. However, comparison of oral mucosal biopsies of 24 EC vapers with an average history of 2 years of vaping to those of 23 NS demonstrated no histologic or transcriptome changes compared to healthy NS.…”
