Studies of livestock dynamics and productivity is an effective mechanism to monitor the possible risks to the breeding of animals of different species and a timely response to strengthen the food security of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The research aims to conduct an analytical review of the state of livestock breeding on the main species of animals that are bred in its territory and the forecast of development soon. The materials for the analysis were reports from the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as information in Kazakh and foreign periodicals on the state of livestock breeding and current news in the agricultural sector of the country. The statistical materials on the number of animals of different species, gross output received from them, investment activities, and other indicators directly or indirectly related to the dynamic indicators in animal husbandry were used. The results of the analytical review revealed positive annual dynamics of increasing the number of livestock of most species of farm animals in the country. Thus, the growth of cattle population is 2-4% from year to year, a similar situation is observed in sheep (2-4%) and poultry (4-10%); the only exception is a decrease in pig population by 5-9%. Populations of cattle, sheep and goats, horses, and camels are mainly concentrated in small farms and individual households, so a significant part of products from them does not get to industrial processing, which leads to the need to import them to meet the needs of the urban population. The main mass of poultry, although represented by the livestock of specialized agricultural enterprises, the volume of output does not provide the necessary volume, which is reflected in an increase in purchases abroad. Therefore, to date, there are no visible prerequisites for reducing the number of animals of all species that are bred in Kazakhstan, and the state support of livestock breeding can contribute to the further growth of livestock

When it comes to animals, particularly beef cattle, with even nails, foot and mouth disease (FMD) is contagious. The goal of this study was to determine how knowledgeable beef breeders were about FMD outbreaks and immunizations. Since Bone Regency is the first-order provider of cattle in the province of South Sulawesi, this study was carried out in the Libureng subdistrict, Bone Regency, in 2023. Cattle farmers made up the entire population. Purposive sampling was used to determine a sample of 48 breeders. Using a questionnaire, data were collected through observation and interviews. Mean and percentage were used in the descriptive analysis of the data. The study’s findings revealed that cattle breeders had heard of FMD (41/85.42%), the cattle had FMD (9/18.75%), and the cattle had FMD vaccinations in the previous year (21/50.00%), cattle farmers immunize their cattle annually (35/72.92%), immunization can prevent FMD outbreaks in livestock (44/91.67%), cattle farmers were willing to pay for the FMD vaccine (42/87.5%), the FMD outbreak increases the number of livestock after vaccination (87.50%) and purchasing livestock could spread disease (18.75%).

The threat of the spread of small ruminant plague to livestock in a number of countries makes the study of the mechanisms of development and prevention of this disease a priority area of research. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to investigate the changes in the blood system and organs of the immune system in small ruminant plague, which led to the development of immunodeficiency in the body of infected animals. Haematological and histological methods were used in the study. As a result of the work carried out, a decrease in the total number of leukocytes in the peripheral blood from 12.4 to 7.3×109/l was detected in 3 sheep that died from small ruminant plague. There was also a shift in the normal ratio of granulocytes to agranulocytes from 1:1 to 2.5:1 towards granulocytes, which was provoked by a sharp decrease in the number of lymphocytes from 49% to 25% in the leukocyte blood count. Such changes in the blood system were provoked by significant degenerative changes in the lymphoid tissue of immunocompetent organs – lymph nodes and spleen. Histological examination of the parenchyma of the above organs revealed atrophy of T- and B-dependent zones and apoptosis of lymphocytes. Taken together, these signs – haematological and histological – allow for the conclusion that both the humoral and cellular immune response systems in the body are reduced. In the affected areas of the lungs, an inflammatory reaction is observed with active migration of neutrophils and macrophages to the inflammation zone. But the active multiplication of the virus in the lung cells indicates a lack of immunity. Thus, the study revealed the mechanisms of the development of humoral and cellular immunodeficiency in small ruminant plague (SRP), which would allow developing more effective methods of combating this disease
