Knowledge Atlas of the Co-Occurrence of Epilepsy and Autism: A Bibliometric Analysis and Visualization Using VOSviewer and CiteSpace

Abstract: This study aimed to analyze research on epilepsy in autism and autism in epilepsy using VOSviewer and CiteSpace to identify research hotspots and future directions. Methods: We searched the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) for relevant studies about epilepsy in autism and autism in epilepsy published from inception to 31 May 2022. VOSviewer and CiteSpace were used to analyze the authors, institutions, countries, publishing journals, reference co-citation patterns, keyword co-occurrence, keyword clusterin… Show more

“…The average silhouette ( S value) of the cluster serves as a metric to assess the quality of clustering. Typically, an S value greater than 0.5 suggests reasonable clustering and an S value exceeding 0.7 indicates highly convincing clustering[ 30 ]. All of the clusters achieved an S value over 0.5, indicating that the clustering results were reasonably reliable (Figure 6B , Table 6 ).…”

“…At present, there are dozens of knowledge mapping software developed at home and abroad, among which CiteSpace [15], VOSviewer [16], Bibexcel [17], HistCite [18], SciMAT [19], Gephi [20], CRExplorer [21] field and the frontier direction of a scientific field. In addition, CiteSpace can also provide the function of cooccurrence analysis among different knowledge units, including authors, institutions, countries, etc., which can be conducted from the perspective of a cooperation network [22].…”

“…This study aims to analyze ethical themes using a bibliometric review process (İpek, 2019;Moro & Valgimigli, 2021;Wang et al, 2022). Researchers using VOSviewer visualization software to analyze data sources, author cooperation, institutional cooperation, keyword co-event groupings, and the evolution path of the theme data hot spots under study (Hu et al, 2019;Martins et al, 2022;Wang et al, 2022). The database used is Scopus.…”

“…The data in Microsoft Excel 2016 comes from Scopus. To perform bibliometric analysis, the software needed can provide excellent visualization (Lazzari et al, 2022;Soegoto et al, 2022;Wang et al, 2022). VOSviewer, a Java software, can be freely downloaded and used, which is used to create maps from bibliographic data and to visualize and unearth the intrinsic meaning of maps.…”
