Knowledge assets, innovation ambidexterity and firm performance in knowledge-intensive companies

Abstract: Purpose This study aims to build upon resource orchestration theory to theorize and empirically test a model that demonstrates how knowledge assets and innovation ambidexterity trigger a synergy in favor of firm performance. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on a survey of 158 Iranian knowledge-intensive companies, this study uses the partial least squares based on structural equation modeling to test the research hypotheses. “…Silva et al (2023) emphasized that knowledge is a key strategic resource for firms and holds great value for sustained success. Asiaei et al (2023) pointed out that knowledge assets are crucial in helping organizations store and disseminate external information to achieve desirable innovation results. “…Exploring innovation ambidexterity in SMEs, Chang and Hughes (2012) found that SMEs can balance their exploratory and exploitative innovations by putting in place suitable internal structures (such as connectedness and social and relational contracts with employees) along with an appropriate leadership style, which incorporates risk-taking tolerance and adaptability, which is likely to lead to higher levels of OA. Innovation ambidexterity in knowledge-intensive companies has been studied (Asiaei et al , 2023).…”
