Knowledge and perception of female nursing students about human papillomavirus (HPV), cervical cancer, and attitudes toward HPV vaccination

Abstract: This study highlights the lack of knowledge and low level of awareness about HPV, CC, and HPV vaccination among first-year nursing college students.

“…When examining the knowledge levels of the students on HPV vaccine, it was found that 65.8% of them heard about the HPV vaccine and 48.4% of them got information about the HPV vaccine. In the study conducted by Oz et al, (2018) on students of a public university, it was determined that only 26.6% of the students heard about HPV vaccine and in a similar study by Dönmez et al, (2018), it was determined that only 17.4% of the participants heard about the HPV vaccine and in the study conducted by Afonsa et al, (2017) with the medical students, it was also determined that only 40% of the students obtained information about the HPV vaccine. The literature and the results of the present study indicate that the rate of the students, studying in health field, to be aware of the HPV vaccine is higher.…”
