“…It is in accordance with previous studies (Tortoriello, 2015) stating that individuals in the open network can understand and adopt diverse perspectives, mind-frames and languages. Inventors located in different regions can combine cognitive elements acquired from both their firm and own geographical regions (Llopis et al , 2021), thus bringing more novel technologies in a firm’s knowledge base (Wagner and Goossen, 2018). It means that although an open network is inefficient in internalizing a large amount of external knowledge, its negative effect is balanced when facing technologies from a wider range of geographical origins.…”
