Knockdown of circ_0055412 promotes cisplatin sensitivity of glioma cells through modulation of CAPG and Wnt/β‐catenin signaling pathway

Abstract: Introduction Glioma is the most frequent primary cerebral tumor in adults. Recent evidence has suggested that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are associated with the pathological processes in glioma. In our study, we aimed to investigate the function and mechanism of circ_CAPG (circ_0055412) in glioma. Methods Firstly, circ_0055412 expression was examined through RT‐qPCR analysis. Loss‐of‐function assays and animal experiments were implemented to evaluate the role of circ_0055412 on cisplatin resistance of glioma cel… Show more

“…The role of these proteins in cancer has remained unclear due to conflicting results: while some studies have classified them as oncogenes, others have proposed that they predominantly encompass tumor suppressor functions [ 89 , 90 ]. In addition, only a limited number of studies have investigated the potential role of these proteins in the development of resistance in cancer, particularly in ovarian cancer and gliomas [ 91 , 92 ]. Therefore, it would be necessary to investigate the potential role of all these under-expressed proteins and their various complexes in the development of resistance to anti-HER2 therapies.…”

“…Increased CAPG expression has been correlated with elevated invasiveness and migration in several human tumor entities like, e.g., glioblastoma [57]. Besides, increased CAPG expression strongly correlates with the resistance to paclitaxel chemotherapy [58], and knockdown of the circular RNA circ_0055412 promotes the cisplatin sensitivity of glioma cells through modulation of the CAPG signaling pathway [59]. Finally, elevated CAPG expression is correlated with unfavorable clinical parameters and poor patients`outcomes in diferent cancers, suggesting a potential role as a biomarker for prognosis and prediction of therapy outcome [60][61][62].…”

“…As a common upstream regulatory gene of mRNA, miRNA has attracted our attention. Moreover, a quite few miRNA species have been suggested to be biomarkers for glioma 32–34 . For instance, miR‐339/342 can be targeted by FOXD1‐AS1 to regulate glioma biological processes 34 .…”
