“…Kırmızı et üretiminde büyükbaşa olan bağımlılığın azaltılması koyun eti üretiminin arttırılması yani damızlık koyun yetiştiriciliğinin geliştirilmesiyle mümkün olacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu anlamda koyunculuğa yönelik teşvik ve destekler stratejik bir önem taşımaktadır (Karakuş, 2011;Saygın ve Demirbaş, 2017;Ayyıldız, 2018) Türkiye'de 2018 yılında arz ve talep unsurları dikkate alınarak küçükbaş hayvancılığı teşvik etmek amacıyla "Üretici Şartlarında Sözleşmeli Küçükbaş Hayvancılık Projesi" diğer adıyla "300 Baş Koyunculuk Projesi" hayata geçirilmiştir. Bu proje kapsamında atıl kalan mera alanlarının üretime kazandırılması, koyun barınaklarının tam kapasite ile kullanımının sağlanması, mevcut koyun varlığının arttırılması ve kırsal alanda koyunculuk faaliyetinde bulunanların sosyal güvenceye kavuşturulması amaçlanmıştır.…”
