Abstract:The ratio between strongly and weakly structured species of silica at the early stages of hydrolysis and polycondensation of silicon alkoxides is investigated. It is demonstrated that this problem can be solved using the molybdate method. The kinetics of the process in water-alcohol solutions of tetraethoxysilane and tetramethoxysilane is studied as a function of the pH value of the medium and the tetraalkoxysilane : H 2 O ratio.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
