“…On susceptible hosts, the fungus infects xylem parenchyma cells in a radial direction, from where generated hyphae reach and invade the xylem vessels [ 14 ]. C. cacaofunesta produces atypical smaller conidia which can pass through the cell wall pits and are probably involved in the rapid and massive plant colonization by the fungus [ 15 ].
