Kinetic processes in the HgBr(BX)/HgBr2 dissociation laser

Abstract: A kinetic model of the sustained discharge HgBr laser Results are reported of an investigation of fundamental kinetic processes influencing discharge and laser properties typical of the 502-nm HgBr(B-X)/HgBr2 dissociation laser. Specific attention is focused on conditions representative of electron-beam-controlled discharges. Experimental results and corresponding analysis and interpretation are presented for several laser mixtures, focusing particularly on the factors affecting discharge characteristics and H… Show more

“…Indeed, the differences in relative cross sections obtained experimentally at threshold and 200 eV is not so great as the differences in the two sets of cross sections chosen for discharge analysis (Nighan and Brown 1982);McGeoch et al 1983).…”

“…The similarities between these two spectra obtained despite widely disparate excitation conditions are obvious. A comparison of the relative cross section of selected energy loss processes shown in these spectra with those chosen by Nighan and Brown (1982) and by McGeoch et al (1983) is provided in Table 5.1.…”
