Abstract:In this paper, we review previous results obtained by the authors, concerning the mathematical modelling of autoimmune diseases when the kinetic theory approach is used in order to describe the microscopic interactions between cells. Three cell populations are considered and the distribution function of each population depends on the biological activity variable defining the functional state relevant for that population. We revisit the wellposedness of the kinetic system and focus our study on the numerical si… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
