Kinetic investigation of the dispersion polymerization of N,N′‐methylenebis(acrylamide) in the presence of various emulsifiers

Abstract: The aqueous-phase dispersion polymerization of N~-methylenebis(acrylamide) (MBA) in the presence of various additives was kinetidy investigated at 50 "C by conventional gravimetric and dilatometric methods. The rate of polymerization is found to be proportional to the concentration of sodium I~~i s ( 2~h~~l o~~n y l~~e s u l f o~ (AOT) raised to the power of 0,42 (conc of emulsifier < lo-') and to the c o x of ethylene glycol monooctylphenyl ether (TR) raised to the power of 023.
