Kinetic and Thermodynamic Study Removal of Co(II) Using Biosorbent Spirulina sp. in Aqueous Solution

Abstract: Kinetic and thermodynamic adsorption study of Co(II) ions from aqueous solutions by dried Spirulina sp. biomass was investigated in the batch system. The Spirulina sp. was isolated and cultured from algae swamp ecosystem in South Sumatera. The adsorption properties of Co(II) onto dried Spirulina sp. biomass was studied by the influence of contact time, initial metal ion concentration and reaction temperature. The experimental results were the rate of adsorption followed the second-order kinetic model with the … Show more

“…So, the number of active sites for [AuCl 4 ]increased. On the other hand, as previously indicated, PFO will prevail in conditions where the initial adsorbate concentration is much higher than the number of available adsorbent active sites [34][35][36][37][38]. The presence of Au (0) as a result of reduction process [AuCl4] ‾ by PHBA-intercalated Mg/Al-LDH and PHBA-immobilized Mg/Al-LDH could be known by comparing the visual appearance of the two hybrid materials between before and after the removal process [AuCl 4 ] ‾ using a stereo photomicroscope as shown by Figure 6.…”

“…Biological wastewater treatment systems with microalgae are very rapidly developing nowadays and it is widely accepted that wastewater treatment systems using algae are as e ective as conventional care systems. These speci c features have made wastewater treatment systems with algae a signi cant low-cost alternative to complicated expensive maintenance systems especially for urban wastewater puri cation (Mohadi et al, 2017). Algae support the oxidation of aerobic bacteria from organic matter that produces oxygen through photosynthesis while releasing carbon dioxide and nutrients in the use of aerobic oxidation for algal biomass growth (Kalesh and Nair, 2005).…”
