Kinematics Analysis of the Roller Screw Based on the Accuracy of Meshing Point Calculation

Abstract: This paper investigates the meshing behavior of the roller screw, a mechanical transmission device characterized by threaded rollers that transfer a load between the nut and the screw, by analyzing the meshing characteristics between screw and rollers. This study seeks to establish a more accurate mathematical model for the thread surface by creating a modeling process in which the max radiuses of the threads are calculated more precisely. The contact line distribution and the contact location were also calcul… Show more

“…It is only during the past decade that literature on the exploration of PRSMs has become available. The research focuses on geometry design, 99 kinematics, 100 load distribution, 101 load-carrying capacity, 102 and efficiency. 103 Jones and Velinsky 104,105 did fundamental research on the kinematics and dynamics of the standard PRSM through analytical methods, which allows for a better understanding of the mechanism.…”

“…In recent years, there are many researches on PRSM, which are primarily focused on load distribution [1][2][3], parameter matching [4], friction and wear behaviours [5], axial stiffness [6][7] and kinematic analysis [8][9][10]. Instead, only few publications on the dynamic characteristic of the PRSM are mentioned.…”

“…Liu et al [24] calculated the contact positions at the screw-roller and nut-roller interfaces in the PRSM, in which the helical angles of the screw, nut and rollers were identical, and derived the transmission ratio of the PRSM.…”
