Abstract:Histone deacetylase enzymes (HDACs) modify transcriptional activity by removing an acetyl group from histone tails, generally resulting in a repression of transcription. Administration of HDAC inhibitors has been shown to reduce inflammation and apoptosis in both cancer and cardiovascular disease models.
