Current password authentication system was proven not secure enough to protect the information from intruders. However, various research has been done and the results show the value of FRR still low and the value of FAR still high. Thus, one of the methods suggests, is enhancing the current system using keystroke dynamics. Keystroke dynamics is a type of biometric authentication that does not require any special hardware, easy to use as the same routine as normal password authentication. Therefore, this research proposed an authentication system using keystroke dynamics to prevent the system from intruders. A system is developed that consist of two parts which are enrolment and verification. Then, a prototype is developed for testing process that consists of 3 main modules, namely Enrolment, Client/Server Connection and, Verification and Retraining. Based on the testing, the system proved that the keystroke dynamic authentication system was able to implement in client/server environment and shows the value of EER is low that indicates it provide a better system authentication. In future, the system can be improved by enhancing the security, performance, and user interface.

This article presents a comprehensive analysis behavioral authentication systems based on keystroke dynamics using android mobile devices. Behavioral security authentication is an efficient biometric‐based security system that can be used to authenticate users. It is exploited to strengthen password authentication efficiently and inexpensively because no extra hardware is required in most of these schemes. Keystroke dynamic rhythm uses combinations of timing features and nontiming features that are extracted and processed from several devices such as classical keyboard and built‐in software keyboard in touch screen and smart phone devices. This work presents a comprehensive analysis of using biometric behavioral authentication system‐based on keystroke dynamics. Neural network classifiers are used in this work. The performance results show that keystroke dynamics provides good level in performance measures as a second authentication factor. The distinguishable role for nontiming features in addition to the timing features is demonstrated. These features have a significant role in improving the performance measures. The proposed model achieves low error rate of 0.3% for false acceptance rate, a false rejection of 1.5%, and an equal error rate of 0.9%. These are considered excellent enhancements when compared with previous reported results. Suggestions for future directions, and challenges for using behavioral‐based authentication systems are also highlighted.

Web security is a critical aspect for many web-based applications, along its research track, keystroke dynamics techniques have attracted broad interests due to their high efficiency in security. In this paper, the aim was to come out with a keystroke login system that overcomes the typical challenges associated with keystroke dynamics and improves on password security but with focus on irritability nature of keystroke dynamics based systems. Specifically, we proposed two stages user matching method, training/enrolment phase of users and authenticating registered users with previously stored data. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm added dwell, flight times and multiplied by the locate time to get the upper and lower bounds. Moreover, the uniform differences between the bound timings were calculated to further enhance security. Experimental results show that the proposed keystroke dynamics approach used in augmenting password security emerged to be superior as compared to existing customary distance metrics.
