The selection of fibers and their stacking sequence, which affect structural integrity and functional properties, are critical parts of polymer composite design. In this work, the influence of various stacking sequences made of basalt and flax fiber layers on the mechanical, thermal, and dynamic mechanical analyses of vinyl ester polymer composites was investigated. The stacking sequence designed by alternate basalt and flax layers showed higher tensile and flexural strengths, with basalt layers in the outer positions. The high‐strength basalt fiber retains considerable stress, particularly in the outer layer, reducing stress transfer to the remaining core layers. The basalt and flax fiber alternative layered sequence with outer basalt layers shows a slightly lower thermal degradation temperature (467°C) than the only basalt layered sequence composite (474°C). Because of the high thermal resistance of the outer basalt layers, heat flow to the next fiber layers is reduced. The dynamic mechanical analysis reveals that the polymer composite intertwined with only basalt fiber was found to have a higher storage modulus. On the other hand, the outer basalt layers intertwined with the core flax layers composite showed a 122% higher damping value than the stacking sequence made of only basalt fiber due to the porous structure of flax fibers dissipating more vibration energy.

Natural fiber-reinforced composites are progressively being earning attention in the aerospace, automotive, aeronautics, and marine sectors due to their good strength-to-weight ratio, long-lasting, and cost-effective. Traditional machining methods have trouble machining such composite materials. However, Abrasive Water Jet Machining (AWJM) provides an alternative quality machining method that can be accomplished by regulating various process variables. The efficiency of the AWJM method is the subject of extensive study due to negligible Heat affected zone. This review attempts to focused on the exploration of thermal as well as mechanical properties and the AWJM efficiency of various coir fiber-based composites in relation to various parameters and to determine the best AWJM operating conditions. There are numerous process variables that influence AWJM machined surface quality. However, Standoff Distance, hydraulic pressure, abrasive mass flow rate, nozzle diameter and transverse speed are all important factors to consider. Kerf Taper, Kerf width (TKW, BKW), and Surface Roughness (SR) are considered key response factors.

Abrasive water jet machining has become an indispensable process for cutting Kevlar fiber-reinforced polymers used in applications such as ballistics protection, race cars, and protective gloves. The complex and diffuse action of a large number of input parameters leads to the need to evaluate the quality characteristics of the technological transformation as a result of the deployment of experimental studies adapted to the specific processing conditions. Thus, the paper focuses on identifying the influence of different factors and modeling their action on the characteristics that define the quality of the cut parts, such as the kerf taper angle and the Ra roughness parameter, by applying statistical methods of design and analysis of experiments.
