Show more

“…EDS of representative crystals resulted in a composition of Ag:P = 7(1):93(1) atom %, in good accordance with the theoretical values of 6.25:93.75. According to the Baudler–Häser scheme, the phosphorus substructure can be regarded as the condensation of [P8]P2 and [P3]P2 fragments, in such a way that the ∞ 1 [P 15 – ] strands can be written as ∞ 1 ([P8]P2[P3]P2). The close relationship to fibrous phosphorus can be illustrated by the Baudler–Häser scheme for this element allotrope ∞ 1 ([P8]P2[P9]P2).…”

“…The bond lengths and angles of the presented catena -dihydrogen triphosphides, P 3 H 2 3− , and catena -trihydrogen triphosphides, P 3 H 3 2− , can be compared with the equivalent parameters in anions and compounds they can be formally derived from. These are the triphosphane(5), P 3 H 5 , and the P 3 5− anion in the lanthanum phosphide, LaP 2 , , which is the formal product of the full deprotonation of triphosphane(5). We further include the 19-electron radical P 3 4− of K 4 P 3 in our comparison because we found very similar coordination spheres of the anions in K 4 P 3 and the compounds (1) and (2).…”

“…NaP 7 [9] consists of [P 7 ] units arranged in a helical strand along the crystallographic c axis. According to the Baudler [10] nomenclature, the helical polyphosphide substructure consist of P2[P3]P2[units, containing a 4 1 -screw axis along c. Sodium ions are located in close neighborhood to the two-bonded P atoms within the P2[P3]P2[chains. In total, four sodium coordinated polyphosphide chains are present in the unit cell.…”

“…[9] It consists of a helical polyphosphidic arrangement of [P 7 ] units, which can be classified as chains of P2[P3]P2 fragments according to the Baudler nomenclature. [10] In addition to our work with the aim to completely characterize the existing sodium phosphides, we started substitution experiments with arsenic. In general, replacing P by As leads to a reduction of the bandgaps into relevant regions for energy conversion applications below 2 eV.…”
