“…The optical phase of PDLC, in general, belongs to one of an optically isotropic liquid crystal (OILC) phase modulations as long as PDLC is operated in the pure optical phase region as the voltage is larger than certain bias voltage (V b ). Recently, Niziol reported the Kerr effect of PDLC which means the birefringence of PDLC can be induced under external electric fields, not just orientational birefringence [29].
