This study aims to find out the strategic priorities of the technical factors to have sustainable low carbon industry. For this purpose, a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) is proposed that contains three different stages. First, the economic criteria required for sustainable development and the technical needs of the low carbon industry are defined by making a comprehensive literature review. After that, economic criteria are weighted by using the fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) methodology. Finally, technical factors are ranked with the help of the fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) approach. Moreover, another analysis is also performed by considering fuzzy Vise Kriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) to evaluate the consistency of the analysis results. The main motivation of this study is to define the primary technical factors to minimize carbon emission problem by proposing a hybrid MCDM model. The findings indicate that research and development for renewable sources has the greatest importance for low-carbon industry. In addition, the analysis results of fuzzy TOPSIS and fuzzy VIKOR are quite similar. This situation demonstrates the consistency and coherency of the ranking results. Hence, it is recommended that countries should mainly give importance to the research and development investments so that the costs of renewable energy problems can be minimized. This situation can attract the attentions of the companies to invest in these projects. In this way, it will be possible to use a cleaner energy in industrial production.

Summary The aim of this study is to define strategies to increase green nuclear energy investments. Within this context, a model is suggested that includes two different stages. Firstly, the consensus‐based fuzzy preferences are determined for these investments. For this purpose, four different TRIZ‐based strategies are identified, which have an influence on the effectiveness of these projects. Furthermore, in the second stage, the significance weights of these strategies are calculated by considering the spherical fuzzy DEMATEL approach. The findings indicate that dynamicity is the most appropriate TRIZ strategy for the effectiveness of green nuclear energy investments. In addition, the prior action is another significant strategy that should also be considered in these projects. It is obvious that sufficient technological infrastructure is very important for the performance of green nuclear power plants and there is a rapid development of this technology. Because of this situation, these nuclear power plants should be designed effectively so that they can be adoptable to any changes in the technology. In this scope, qualified personnel should be employed, and communication between departments should be effective and of high quality. With the help of these issues, technological changes can be adopted more easily.

This study evaluates theory of the solution of inventive problems (TRIZ)-based green energy project network based on innovation life cycle. In this context, TRIZ-based combinations are obtained by integer patterns for green energy projects. In the next phase, activity priorities of TRIZ-based principles are measured for green energy projects with Pythagorean fuzzy (PF) technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). Finally, project evaluation review technique (PERT) and PF decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) approaches are taken into consideration to score the green energy projects based on innovation life cycle using inventive problem-solving principles. TRIZbased principles are also ranked by using Vise Kriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR). Additionally, all calculations have also been made with Spherical fuzzy (SF) sets in addition to the PF sets. It is concluded that the analysis results are quite reliable. The main contribution of this study is that innovative strategies are identified for green energy investment projects with a novel methodology. The findings indicate that dynamicity and transformation of properties play a crucial role in this process. Therefore, green energy investors should closely follow technological developments in this area and the products used in green energy investments should be easily adapted to these developments. Additionally, the principal of prior action should be considered to reduce the costs instead of periodic action. It is obvious that the necessary controls should be made before the project starts to increase the efficiency and productivity.
