Kandungan Bahan Organik dan Karakteristik Sedimen di Perairan Betahwalang, Demak

Abstract: Betahwalang is a coastal village located in Demak Regency. As a village located in a coastal area, the local population mostly relies on the fisheries sector sourced from sea products. Betahwalang Village has a Mangrove Ecosystem, which is included in the tidal river area of Betahwalang Village. This study aims to look at the comparison of organic matter levels in sediments during tidal and receding river water. Sampling in the field was conducted in March 2019. Sediment samples were taken from 5 stations divi… Show more

“…Location is one of the crucial factors determining nutrient content in mangrove ecosystems. In general, the closer the location is to the sea, the higher the organic material content [30]. However, other studies have yielded contrasting results, indicating that the content of organic material, phosphate, and nitrate tends to be lower when closer to the sea [31].…”

“…The highest organic material content in the Betahwalang coastal mangrove ecosystem, Demak, was found at stations located in coastal areas far from the mangrove ecosystem and close to the sea. This content was classified as very high, measuring 66.99% during high tide and 74.87% during low tide [30]. The highest nutrient content in the Tapak Tugurejo Village mangrove ecosystem, Semarang, was observed at stations located closer to the mainland.…”

“…Furthermore, Nitzchia accounted for 51% of the rocky substrate, followed by Pinnularia at 26% in the mangrove. Skeletonema is a species with the ability to thrive in various aquatic environmental conditions and reproduce rapidly (Jamaludin et al, 2021). On the other hand, Nitzschia is commonly found on rocks and possesses a gelatinous stalk that aids in movement and attachment to substrates amidst changing water conditions.…”
