Kalix: A Java 11 Library for Developing Eclipse Arrowhead System-of-Systems

Abstract: Eclipse Arrowhead, an upcoming open source framework for designing cyber-physical system-of-systems, is starting to become complete enough to be the subject of serious evaluation and prototyping. As a consequence, it has become increasingly pertinent to provide software that makes it straightforward to use and learn it. To address this, we here present Arrowhead Kalix, a Java 11 library designed for the efficient and effective development of correct, concise and relatively performant Arrowhead-compliant system… Show more

“…Recently, more systematically maintained and well designed libraries for application system development have emerged and much of the logic needed by every application system is wrapped behind an API with clear boundaries. One example is Arkalix for Java [33], which makes implementation of AHF compliant application systems streamlined. Arrival of libraries is a good sign since they also enable smoother introduction of new features for AHF, which could lower the learning curve for new developers and save time for more experienced ones.…”
