Cyberbullying is not an emerging new problem and number of international scholars have placed their interest on the issue. In Malaysia, although the number of cyberbully studies are increasing, however, studies on cyberbullying in particular from the qualitative perspective is still lacking. This has geared the current study to prod youth perception on cyberbullying from the qualitative perspective. Their perceptions on cyberbullying were based on six main aspects, namely their comprehension of it, sources of their knowledge, examples that they know, the reasons for youth involvement in cyberbullying and their suggestions on how to prevent cyberbullies. This study involved a total of four FGDs with 27 participants among youth aged between 20-30 years old. A number of discussions are placed and hopefully this study can further enhance understanding on cyberbullying among youths in Malaysia.

Kajian ini bertujuan mengenal pasti pengaruh buli siber, kemurungan, kebimbangan dan tekanan terhadap pencapaian akademik murid. Kajian kualitatif ini meneroka implikasi buli siber ke atas lima orang murid mangsa buli siber dan telah dikenal pasti mempunyai tahap kemurungan, kebimbangan dan tekanan yang sangat tinggi melalui ujian soal selidik. Dapatan yang diperolehi melalui analasis tema menunjukkan antara implikasi yang dihadapi seperti tekanan perasaan, mudah tersinggung, bertindak keterlaluan, kesedihan, menyalahkan diri, merasa tidak dihargai, kecewa dan putus harapan, keinginan membunuh diri, malu, gangguan perasaan, bimbang dan takut, memendam perasaan, kurang yakin diri, kemarahan, hilang semangat dan implikasi akademik seperti tidak fokus dan ponteng sekolah. Kesimpulanya, buli siber membawa implikasi kemurungan, kebimbangan dan tekanan dari aspek emosi, psikologi dan fizikal. Penemuan daripada kajian ini dapat digunakan oleh pihak pemegang taruh khususnya dalam bidang pendidikan bagi merangka plan tindakan pemulihan ke atas mangsa buli siber. Implications of Cyber Bullying, Depression, Anxiety and Stress on Student Academic Achievement Abstract: This study aims to identify the influence of cyber bullying, depression, anxiety and stress on student academic achievement. This qualitative study explored the implications of cyberbullying on five students who were victims of cyberbullying and were identified as having very high levels of depression, anxiety and stress through a questionnaire test. Findings obtained through theme analysis show among the implications faced such as emotional stress, irritability, overacting, sadness, self-blame, feeling unappreciated, disappointed and hopeless, suicidal desire, shame, emotional disturbance, worry and fear, harboring feelings, lack of self-confidence, anger, loss of enthusiasm and academic implications such as lack of focus and skipping school. In conclusion, cyber bullying has implications for depression, anxiety and stress from emotional, psychological and physical aspects. The findings from this study can be used by stakeholders, especially in the field of education, to formulate a recovery action plan for victims of cyber bullying. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the psychosocial issues that a person fears and how it interacts with others in a social setting have become increasingly concerning, particularly for adolescents. The effects of psychosocial problems among adolescents can lead to cases of depression, deviant behaviour, and suicidal events. Statistics released by the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) show that suicide cases among teenagers are the highest. This is a challenge for family institutions to deal with issues related to adolescence. Communication in the family is one way to restore harmony and well-being among adolescents. The main objective of this study is to examine the effect of family communication factors on adolescent psychosocial. While this study uses quantitative methods and the data is analysed by Statistical Package for Social Science software (SPSS). Respondents were selected using simple random sampling. The results showed that the conversational orientation family communication factor is a factor that affects the psychosocial of adolescents, yet it does not show a significant effect. It is therefore found that there are other factors out there that can affect the psychosocial well-being of adolescents such as peers, teachers, neighbors, etc.
