Cet article vise à comprendre les conditions d’émergence du tissu associatif féminin en Kabylie à partir des années 1980 jusqu’aux années 2000, ainsi que les modalités et les effets de la présence féminine dans les cadres de la société civile et des mouvements de revendication berbères. Il s’appuie sur un corpus archivistique et d’entretiens. Les données proviennent d’archives publiques et privées ainsi que d’entretiens réalisés au cours d’une enquête menée entre novembre 2018 et janvier 2019 dans la wilaya de Tizi Ouzou et la ville de Béjaïa, en Algérie. Le choix de la Kabylie implique une contextualisation spécifique en Algérie. Subalternes au sein d’un groupe minoré, les actrices de ce mouvement sont confrontées à des processus de minoration variés. La Kabylie est une région berbérophone caractérisée par la tension entre pérennité et renégociations des structures sociales et symboliques. Dans ce cadre, l’exclusion des femmes des espaces décisionnels, dont la tajmaεt (assemblée de village) constitue l’institution sociale principale, ainsi que l’existence d’un militantisme féminin dans la région sont des aspects qui reflètent la tension entre pérennisation et modernisation du système symbolique, des structures sociales et, par conséquent, des rapports de genre. Du point de vue méthodologique, au regard de son objet et de son contexte géographique, ce travail s’appuie sur une approche théorique hybride qui conjugue les études berbères/amazighes (Abrous, 1988, 1995, 2004 ; Chaker, 1988, 1998 ; Tilmatine, 1989, 2017 ; Ould Fella, 2021) et les études d’ethnologie kabyle (Bourdieu, 1998 ; Lacoste-Dujardin, 1985, 2008) avec l’approche expérientielle de la condition minoritaire (Chassain et al., 2016), les études de genre et les subaltern studies (Spivak, 1988). Une attention particulière est accordée à l’association Tiɣri n’Ttmeṭṭut, active de 1989 à 1995, et au Collectif de femmes du printemps noir, actif depuis 2001.L’hypothèse défendue dans cet article est que mouvements de femmes et mouvements identitaires s’inscrivent dans un rapport à la fois de tension et de complémentarité les uns par rapport aux autres engendrant des conséquences réciproques, dont nous essayons de mesurer la portée en particulier pour les femmes, minorées parmi les minorisé.e.s. Cette double minorisation se traduit par leur marginalisation dans la réalité sociale et leur invisibilisation dans les cadres théoriques de la connaissance et de la construction des savoirs en raison de facteurs historiques et sociaux. C’est pourquoi, le militantisme féminin s’avère être une perspective intéressante pour analyser les permanences et les changements des rapports de genre dans la réalité sociale des mouvements de revendications kabyles au cours du XXe et XXIe siècles. Cette démarche nous permet, en dépassant l’invisibilité historique du mouvement féminin kabyle, de déceler un processus, non linéaire dans son évolution et toujours en construction, de changement et évolution des rapports de genre qui se traduisent dans la renégociation des identités de genre et l’intersection des revendications des actrices et des acteurs étudié.e.s.Ces mouvements ont pour point commun d’avoir été dès l’indépendance du pays cantonnés par l’État au rang de groupes minorés. La définition d’une identité monolithique arabe et musulmane par le pouvoir central, a en effet eu comme conséquence la minoration de deux groupes de population : les berbérophones et les femmes. Nous expliquons tout d’abord comment l’État a placé les mouvements identitaires kabyles et les mouvements de femmes en position de minorités et comment les luttes de ces acteurs se sont organisées en parallèle ou en s’entrecroisant. Au cantonnement par l’État, a succédé, dans les années 1980-1990, des interactions puissantes entre mouvement féminin en Kabylie et mouvement de revendications culturelles kabyles. Les processus de définition et de négociation identitaire des associations féminines se sont exprimés à travers un mouvement dialectique d’appropriation et de contestation de la revendication identitaire et des identités de genre en référence aux cadres normatifs social, juridique et coutumier. Parallèlement, les revendications féminines et féministes ont été interrogées au sein des associations identitaires kabyles. La reprise des revendications spécifiques des femmes est demeurée toutefois extrêmement limitée et a même connu une régression à partir de 2001. Le « Printemps noir » a amené à une réaffirmation du système patriarcal, y compris dans la structuration du mouvement contestataire de cette période.

Qanun (orthographe française « kanoun(s) »), en réalité lqanun -l'article arabe l-étant toujours amalgamé et non supprimable -, désigne les règlements de droit coutumier ; bien que d'origine gréco-latine, le terme dans sa forme actuelle est nécessairement passé par l'arabe comme l'indique sa morphologie. Ces codes coutumiers étaient pratiqués dans l'ensemble du monde berbère -dans les régions berbères de l'Algérie et du Maroc notamment -avant la conquête française et l'avènement des États modernes. Au Maroc central, en tamazight, c'est le terme azərf/izərf, qui était utilisé. Ce droit dont la source est la coutume se transmettait oralement et était conservé dans la mémoire des hommes âgés, en particulier des notables de djemâa* (imɣaren, imeqqranen). Il pouvait aussi être fixé à l'écrit ; deux régions se distinguent en la matière : le Mzab (Masqueray 1995 ( 1878)) et le Haut-Atlas (Berque 1978) ; ces régions, en raison d'une pratique de l'écriture qui remonte au Moyen Age, disposaient de qanun-s écrits. Quelques qanun-s écrits ont également été collectés en Kabylie au XIX e siècle mais l'usage de l'écriture était nettement moins courant dans cette région. L'élaboration des qanun-s et le suivi de leur application était une des fonctions essentielles de la djemâa, l'assemblée de village.
Le témoignage précédent relatif au mariage transmis par Fadhma Aït-Mansour à sa fille Marguerite Taos Amrouche traite plus précisément des noces. Quelques détails (origine des musiciens : Isaḥliwen ; nom d'une épice ifelfel aεebbas) indiquent qu'il s'agit des noces chez les Aït-Abbas, tribu d'origine de la famille Amrouche. Ce texte retrace les étapes principales qui, sur une durée de trois jours, jalonnent les cérémonies du mariage en Kabylie ; y sont mentionnés des pratiques et des rites comme : la préparation du repas des noces, l'imposition du henné, la toilette de la mariée, la constitution du cortège nuptial, les cadeaux offerts aux parents de la mariée, les différentes réjouissances.
