K-Λ and K-Σ photo-production in a coupled channels framework

Abstract: A coupled channels analysis, based on the K-matrix approach, is presented for photo-induced kaon production. It is shown that channel coupling effects are large and should not be ignored. The importance of contact terms in the analysis, associated with short range correlations, is pointed out. The extracted parameters are compared with SU (3)-model predictions.

“…Other groups [28,29] find evidence for a third S 11 resonance which has been suggested to explain an anomaly in the η photoproduction cross section [30]. Usov and Scholten [31] use a coupled channel frame derived from an effective Lagrangian to fit CLAS and SAPHIR data on ΛK + and ΣK. Eight N * and 3 ∆ * resonances are introduced, among them two P 11 resonances at 1520 and 1850 MeV and a ∆(1855)P 33 .…”
