This research aims to determine the role of grit in controlling burnout and improving the subjective well-being of nurses at secondary hospitals in Depok City. There was a total of 186 respondents participating in this study. The data wascollected by distributing questionnaires to the nurses and processed in SmartPLS 3.3.3 program using Partial Least Square -Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that the grit has a negative and significanteffect on the burnout, in which it increases by 0.204 when the grit decreases by one unit. Furthermore, the grit alsohas a negative and significant effect on the subjective well-being, in which it increases by 0.204 when the grit decreases by one unit. Meanwhile, the subjective well-being has a significant and negative effect on the burnout, in which itincreases by 0.082 when the subjective well-being decreases by one unit. This study confirms that the subjective well-being is able to mediate the relationship between grit and burnout, affecting the grit negatively and significantly. Based on the VAF analysis, it is found that the the subjective well-being is partially mediated at 25%. Therefore, the hospitals are suggested to make a workload analysis and employee evaluation to determine the subjective well-being of nurses and the grit of the employees.
