Joyce’s Progress Through London: Conquering the English Publishing Market

Abstract: Drawing on archival research and on recent scholarship that has explored issues of modernist reputation and reception, this essay examines Joyce’s collaborations in London’s literary marketplace in materialist and economic lines. Special focus is on the key roles that T. S. Eliot, C. K. Ogden, and Herbert Hughes played in the promotion of Joyce’s work in London’s public sphere from 1929 to 1931.
