It contains papers by members of the Geological Survey on geologic, hydrologic, topographic, and other scientific and technical subjects.The Journal supersedes the short-papers chapters (B, C, and D) of the former Geological Survey Research ("Annual Review") series of professional papers. The synopsis chapter (A) of the former Geological Survey Research series will be published as a separate professional paper each year.
