“…This research contributes to the understanding of the interactions among job crafting and commitment to explain the quality of care in eldercare settings. This analysis represents the novelty of the present research, adding explanatory power to the direct effect of job crafting on quality of care, confirmed in a previous study (Yepes-Baldó, Romeo, Westerberg, & Nordin, 2018).…”

“…It is for this reason that our research is based on the conceptualization described by Wrzesniewski and Dutton (2001). Empirical evidence from this perspective shows job crafting has a positive effect on performance and quality of care in health centers (Tims et al, 2015;Yepes-Baldó et al, 2018). The relationship between job crafting and performance, in the present study, quality of care, may be higher or lower depending on third variables (Wrzesniewski & Dutton, 2001).…”

“…Gordon et al () compared the job crafting of health care professionals in the US (a masculine‐dominated culture) and the Netherlands (a feminine‐dominated culture), indicating that the former had higher job demands and reported more avoidance demands crafting, whereas the latter reported a higher level of approach resources crafting. Yepes‐Baldó, Romeo, Westerberg, and Nordin () found a positive linear relationship between approach crafting and psychological well‐being in a Spanish sample, but found an inverted U‐shaped curve between approach crafting and psychological well‐being in the Swedish sample. Petrou, Demerouti, and Xanthopoulou () further examined the effects of approach crafting on employee occupational well‐being in two different organizational change contexts: one was regular organizational change aiming for better organizational functioning (Dutch sample), and the other was cutback‐related organizational change due to the financial recession (Greek sample).…”

“…The consequences of the severe economic contraction faced during the last decade in Spain, lead to a 27.2% unemployment rate in 2013 (Córdoba-Doña et al, 2016;Fernández-López et al, 2005;Urbanos-Garrido and Lopez-Valcarcel, 2014), and 16.74% (3.796.100 still unemployed) in the first quarter of 2018 (Instituto Nacional de Estadística, 2018). A seriously hit sector has been that one of elderly care, with an incomitant growth of personnel to match the ageing population and growing numbers of senior citizens located in nursing homes (Associació Catalana de Recursos Assistencials ACRA, 2014;Fernández-López et al, 2005;Yepes-Baldó et al, 2016), leading to reductions in workers' perceived well-being and mental health (Kiefer et al, 2014;Peiró et al, 2014;Urbanos-Garrido and Lopez-Valcarcel, 2014).…”
