JNK Pathway-Associated Phosphatase as a Serum Marker for Disease Activity and Treatment Outcome of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Abstract: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease characterized by arthritis of unknown etiology. JNK pathway-associated phosphatase (JKAP) is reported to be a negative regulator of T-cell activation, but its clinical role in JIA is unknown. This study aimed to investigate the correlation of JKAP with disease activity and treatment response to a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor, etanercept (ETN), in JIA patients. Totally, 104 JIA patients (6.9 ± 2.7 years old) and 100 age-and sex-m… Show more

“…JKAP is downregulated in several immune or inflammation‐related diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, lupus erythematosus patients, idiopathic arthritis, and sepsis. 11 , 13 , 14 , 23 In the current study, JKAP in AECOPD patients was lower than that in SCOPD patients, meanwhile JKAP distinguished AECOPD from SCOPD patients. Likewise, JKAP in AECOPD and SCOPD patients was lower than that in healthy subjects, meanwhile JKAP might distinguish AECOPD and SCOPD patients from health subjects.…”

“…Since DUSP22 is a regulator of T‐cell activation and differentiation, the correlation of blood DUSP22 dysregulation with inflammation is identified in several diseases featured by dysregulated immune or inflammation. 12 , 20 , 21 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 For instance, serum DUSP22 relates to decreased CRP, number of joints with active arthritis, physician's global assessment of disease activity in juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients. 25 In addition, serum DUSP22 correlates with less sever inflammation and disease activity in Crohn disease patients.…”
