Users start with an idea, refine that into a system architecture, and then iterate physical prototypes. Parts selection happens throughout the process. While certain steps require linear progression, iteration and revision of earlier stages also happen. Overall, EDA tools only support a small part of this process, and moving between steps was a major source of friction.
