“…According to these findings, we can infer that when treating GC using paclitaxel-based chemotherapy combined with TCMs, most of the studies invigorated the qi and strengthened the spleen as the standard treatment approach. This is also supported by the existing evidence on TCM treatment for advanced GC and TCMs combined with chemotherapy (Chen et al, 2018). In addition, we found a frequently recurring combination of eight ingredients (Dangshen, Gancao, Baizhu, Fuling, Chenpi, Shanyao, Yiyiren, and Sharen).…”

“…Since chemotherapeutics have the insurmountable problems of multidrug resistance and adverse effects (such as fatigue, anemia, vomiting, decreased neutrophils, thrombocytopenia, diarrhea, and nausea), and resection or radical surgery can cause surgical trauma, malnutrition, and other complications, the quality of life and 5-year overall survival rate for GC patients remain low. In China, Chinese herbal medicines, due to clear curative effects and low toxicity, are increasingly used as alternative and complementary approaches for the prevention and treatment of gastric cancer [21,22].…”
