“Jianbing” styling multifunctional electrospinning composite membranes for wound healing

Abstract: Wound infection and excessive exudate can affect the process of wound healing. However, the disadvantage of the anti-microbial wound dressings is that the biological fluids are ineffectively removed. Inspired by making “Chinese Jianbing”, a composite wound nano-dressing was developed consisting of a hydrophilic outer layer (chitosan&polyvinyl alcohol: CTS-PVA) and a hydrophobic inner layer (propolis&polycaprolactone: PRO-PCL) by combining casting and electrospinning methods for effective antiba… Show more

“…First, the blood compatibility of the hydrogel was evaluated by performing a hemolysis assay. [ 40 ] The hydrogel‐conditioned erythrocyte solutions were examined to verify whether the destruction of red blood cells and the release of hemoglobin occur. The liquid was centrifuged to separate hemoglobin from the supernatant.…”

“…In vitro, this composite nanomaterial effectively inhibits the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, exhibits good antioxidant properties, and has hemostatic effects. In vivo, it suppresses inflammation, promotes collagen synthesis, and accelerates wound healing [ 14 ]. Jiang Tang Xiao Ke (JTXK), a traditional Chinese medicine formula, which promotes wound healing in Staphylococcus aureus-infected wounds by modulating miR-139-5p-mediated neutrophil proliferation and differentiation [ 15 ].…”

“…Today, electrospinning, as a useful nanofiber fabrication method, has spread into almost all scientific applied fields ( Pang et al, 2021 ; Li et al, 2022 ; Wang et al, 2023 ; Wang et al, 2023 ; Geesi et al, 2023 ), including several biomedical applications, such as tissue engineering, regeneration medicine, and wound dressing ( Khazaeli et al, 2020 ; Niu et al, 2021b ; Li et al, 2021 ; Maleki et al, 2021 ; Zhao H. et al, 2022 ; Gao et al, 2022 ; Liang et al, 2022 ). Particularly in pharmaceutics, it is regarded as a popular pharmaceutical nanotechnology ( Spizzirri et al, 2021 ; Chen et al, 2022 ; Wang et al, 2022 ).…”
