Jet coherence in QCD media: the antenna radiation spectrum

Abstract: Abstract:We study the radiation of a highly energetic partonic antenna in a colored state traversing a dense QCD medium. Resumming multiple scatterings of all involved constituents with the medium we derive the general gluon spectrum which encompasses both longitudinal color coherence between scattering centers in the medium, responsible for the well known Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal (LPM) effect, and transverse color coherence between partons inside a jet, leading, in vacuum, to angular ordering of the parton s… Show more

“…Interactions with the medium and the emission of the gluon are treated in the eikonal approximation which is valid at high energies up to the leading logarithm [15,16]. Within this setup the interference spectrum was derived in [40,43] and reads…”

“…This marks the onset of a "dense" regime, which we plan to study in an upcoming publication. The antenna radiation in medium was studied for the multiple-soft scattering approximation in [8] for the soft limit and approached analytically in [34,35].…”

“…On the theoretical side, progress in the last few years has been reached in different fronts, as improvements in the splitting probability [14,15], the use of effective theories as SCET [16][17][18], or the study of multi-parton radiation [17]. A systematic program to understand the in-medium intrajet color coherence effects, using the antenna setup, has also been started, leading to extremely valuable information about the role of interferences [24][25][26][27][28][29][30]. A clear new picture of the jet quenching phenomena is emerging from these studies [31,32].…”
