Jaya based Optimization Method with High Dispatchable Distributed Generation for Residential Microgrid

Abstract: This paper presents a model for optimal energy management under the time-of-use (ToU) and critical peak price (CPP) market in a microgrid. The microgrid consists of intermittent dispatchable distributed generators, energy storage systems, and multi-home load demands. The optimal energy management problem is a challenging task due to the inherent stochastic behavior of the renewable energy resources. In the past, medium-sized distributed energy resource generation was injected into the main grid with no feasibl… Show more

“…1. Similar schemes used in [26] focus on the supplier side, which minimize the daily fuel cost, production cost and maximizes the sales revenue for grid-connected micro-grid; meanwhile, this paper expands the work carried out in [12] by incorporating the RES using ToU and CPP to schedule household appliances.…”

“…In addition, the scheme encourages the use of RES and ESS especially when electricity prices are high during on-peak and low during off-peak time slots. Furthermore, ToU provides extreme peak reduction through the following mechanism, finds average electricity price during intense peak time slots or average electricity price when the number of higher prices is minimal [26].…”

“…In this paper, the forecasting model’s accuracy is improved using Jaya optimization algorithm, which is adopted from [ 38 ]. It has been used to solve the non-constrained and constrained optimization problems [ 39 ]. We define the objective function as: where N is the total time horizon.…”

“…The centralized generation of power is not only costly and inefficient, but it is also sometimes not enough to meet the consumers' demands during peak hours [147]. To mitigate this issue, the use of distributed energy resources (DERs) is one of the solutions [148]. DERs can be divided into two different types: DERs with non-renewable sources of energy and DERs with renewable energy sources.…”
