Abstract: Pholiota microspora (Berk.) Sacc. (synonym P. nameko) ("nameko" in Japanese) is one of the most popular edible mushrooms, especially in Japan. This species is a type of white-rot fungus that grows on dead or rotten trees in cool-temperate deciduous forests of East Asia, ranging from the Himalayas and China to Japan
