“…The most frequently reported symptom in patients diagnosed with JE was dysphagia (64.1% of patients diagnosed with JE; 95% CI: 51.6%‐76.6%; Cochran's Q = 58.1, I 2 = 84.5%) 20‐23,25,26,29‐31,33 . Other commonly described symptoms were regurgitation (38.5%; 95% CI: 10.2%‐66.8%; Cochran's Q = 81.8, I 2 = 95.1%), 20,23,26,27,30 heartburn (33.8%; 95% CI: 22.4%‐45.1%; Cochran's Q = 32.3, I 2 = 78.4%), 16,20,21,23,25,27,29,30 and chest pain (30.7%; 95% CI: 19.0%‐42.5%; Cochran's Q = 108.8, I 2 = 90.8%) 16,20‐23,25,26,29‐31,33 . The prevalence of regurgitation among JE patients may be even higher; on sensitivity analysis we found one study 30 was significantly skewing down that prevalence and once excluded, the proportion of patients having regurgitation rose to 46.9% [95% CI: 24.5%‐69.4%].…”
