Iterative Interference Cancellation in FBMC-QAM Systems

Abstract: In this paper, we evaluate iterative interference cancellation (IIC) as a method to remove the intrinsic interference terms in filter bank multicarrier -quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC-QAM) systems. We propose an IIC receiver that separates the received signal into even-and odd-numbered subcarrier components and use the demodulated even-and oddnumbered subcarrier symbols to iteratively remove the effect of interference. Numerical results show that the out-of-band emission performance of the IIC FBMC-QAM … Show more

“…The calculated ICI and ISI terms are then subtracted from the received signal in order to achieve a better version of the demodulated signal in the next iteration. Detailed discussion on the IIC algorithm can be found in [3] and [25], and are shown in Algorithm 1. “…To resolve the problems with OQAM processing, FBMC with QAM modulation is implemented [3]. The proposed receiver uses bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID) which combines FBMC demodulation and SISO decoding for signal detection, and PIC and iterative interference cancellation (IIC) for interference removal [9]. In the initial decoding iteration, each UE's transmit signal is estimated and used to cancel MUI in the PIC phase.…”

“…O uso de técnicas baseadas no cancelamento de interferências pode ser uma abordagem alternativa. Em [9] [10] [11] e [12], são apresentados alguns casos de algoritmos de cancelamento de interferência para o sistema FBMC a fim de mitigar a interferência residual do filtro e de canais com alta mobilidade.…”
