Item and response-category functioning of the Persian version of the KIDSCREEN-27: Rasch partial credit model

Abstract: BackgroundThe purpose of the study was to determine whether the Persian version of the KIDSCREEN-27 has the optimal number of response category to measure health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children and adolescents. Moreover, we aimed to determine if all the items contributed adequately to their own domain.FindingsThe Persian version of the KIDSCREEN-27 was completed by 1083 school children and 1070 of their parents. The Rasch partial credit model (PCM) was used to investigate item statistics and orderi… Show more

“…The item fit was assessed using 2 mean square (MnSq): the information-weighted fit statistic (infit) and the outlier-sensitive fit statistic (outfit), in which ranges between 0.5 and 1.5 suggest that the item is well fit. 38,39 Unidimensionality was assessed using principal component analysis on the Rasch-retrieved standardized residuals, in which the first component having an eigenvalue of less than 2 indicates unidimensionality. 29 Person separation reliability reported by the Rasch analysis should be less than 0.7 to indicate adequate consistency in the MARS-5.…”

“…Information-weighted fit statistic (infit) mean square (MnSq), and outlier-sensitive fit statistic (outfit) MnSq were used, and both ranges between 0.5 and 1.5 suggested a good fit (Jafari, Bagheri, & Safe, 2012). If an item has MnSq < 0.5, the item could be a redundant item; if an item has MnSq > 1.5, the item could be an out-of-concept item (Khan, Chien, & Brauer, 2013).…”

“…Acceptable psychometric properties of the KIDSCREN-27 questionnaire have been confirmed in 13 European countries ( Revens-Sieberer et al, 2007 ; Robitail et al, 2007 ). The KIDSCREEN-27 questionnaire was previously translated into Persian and its internal consistency and validity was assessed among Iranian school children ( Jafari, Bagheri, & Safe, 2012 ). All domains in both child self-reports and parent proxy-reports had adequate internal consistency, i.e., Cronbach’s α coefficients were greater than 0.7.…”
