Item Analysis of the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology (QUEST)

Abstract: The Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology (QUEST) is an outcomes assessment tool designed to measure satisfaction with assistive technology in a structured and standardized way. The purpose of this article is to present the results of an analysis of the 24 items comprising QUEST and to explain how a subset of items demonstrating optimal measurement performance was selected. The criteria against which the items were measured were general acceptability, content validity, contribution t… Show more

“…The concept of satisfaction that it measures is made up of factors related to the assistive technology device and the service process surrounding it. The individual rates each item with regard to the degree of satisfaction and the importance they ascribe to it (Demers et al, 2000;Fuhrer, 2001). QUESTs predecessor PIADS (Psychosocial Impact of Assistive DeviceS) Fig.…”

“…It is considered as the most relevant tool in functional assessment for assistive technology. It covers both the device and the service components of assistive technology [18] [29]. Although we agree that this instrument is quite useful, we have decided to develop our own questionnaire because QUEST considers many aspects that cannot be taken into account when prototypes which are not in the market are considered.…”

“…This way, the methodology to evaluate the product must provide information about each individual user by means of consecutive interactions with them, allowing the patients to benefit directly from the assistance and information gathered in their presence [17] [18]. For this reason, and taking into account the lack of procedures for the assessment of user's perception and satisfaction, our design is based on the application of evaluation criteria as defined in what is known as "The K.I.U.…”

“…La PIADS évalue le retentissement psychosocial de l'utilisation des AT. C'est un outil permettant de prédire de manière assez fiable l'abandon ou non de l'AT [16]. La COPM semble trop générique pour être intéressante dans l'évaluation des AT [17].…”
