“…In 1961 Raika [6] confirmed these findings, showing that very often both skin prick tests (SPTs) and intradermal tests were positive to a panel of aero allergens, also in AD patients without clinical symptoms of respiratory allergy. Subsequently, it was demonstrated that specific IgE (and IgG) levels against the Der p 1 allergen were elevated in several test subjects affected with AD, and not with asthma.…”

“…Sensory neurons expressing Mrgprs also regulate histamine-independent pruritus ( Wilson et al, 2011 ). Due to the critical role of various proteases, TRPs, and Mrgprs in skin homeostasis and the pathophysiology of pruritus ( Rajka, 1967 ; Steinhoff et al, 2003 ; Reddy et al, 2015 ; Coavoy-Sánchez et al, 2016 ), the co-participation of these receptors in the anti-pruriceptive effects of SGE was assessed. CQ is commonly used to prevent or treat malaria, but, as a side effect, produces intense itching in humans ( Sowunmi et al, 1989 ; Sowunmi et al, 2001 ) or in mice when i.d.…”

“…The view that the disease is a manifestation of atopy seems unlikely when a positive family history was obtained in only 28 per cent with second degree relatives being considered also, and about 30 per cent of normal persons have a family history of atopy in close relatives', whilst in patients presenting with atopic dermatitis a family history of atopy is obtained in 65 per cent of cases 10 . At present infantile seborrhoeic dermatitis remains a self‐limiting cutaneous disorder of obscure aetiology.…”
