Istanbul Yenikapı Metro ve Marmaray Kazılarında Ortaya Çıkan Koyun ve Keçi Metapodial Kemiklerinin Osteometrik İncelenmesi

Abstract: In this study, the metapodial bones of sheep and goats which were found out at Yenikapı Metro and Marmaray archaeological excavations in İstanbul were used. The variability of characteristic features of mentioned metapodia (CV values) were examined and calculations of shoulder heights were made with using metapodial evaluations. The results which were reached were compared with the data of modern and archaeological sheep and goats which belong to previous studies about this topic. Hereat, it is observed that t… Show more

“…In the study conducted by Pazvant and Kahvecioğlu (2013), on adult guinea pigs, they reported that the total length (GL) of the femur was 43.65 ± 1.63 mm in females and 44.55 ± 1.38 mm in males. Also, the proximal width (BP) was 9.68 ± 0.33 mm in females and 10.50 ± 0.44 mm in males.…”

“…Humerus and femur are two long bones that are frequently preferred in morphometric and structural studies (Ajayi et al, 2012; Bagi et al, 1992, 1997, 2011; Bakici et al, 2021; Lök, 2009; Özkadif et al, 2015; Pazvant & Kahvecioğlu, 2009, 2013).…”

“…Although there are many studies on bone of laboratory animals, no studies have been found on the physical and chemical changes of bones in periods based on adolescence and adulthood criteria. Humerus and femur, two of the long bones, are frequently preferred in morphometric studies (Ajayi et al, 2012; Bagi et al, 1997, 2011; Bakici et al, 2021; Lök, 2009; Özkadif et al, 2015; Pazvant & Kahvecioğlu, 2009, 2013). Some authors (Kara, 2002; Miller & German, 1999) reported that male rats had higher measurements than females when looked at the relationship between the morphometric measurements of the bones of male and female rats in both control and experimental groups.…”

“…Metapodial bones have attracted the attention of the researchers in many different scientific fields and many studies are carried on them. These studies include obtaining morphometric data specific to animal breeds (Demiraslan et al, 2019), evaluation of bones obtained in archaeological excavations (Ince et al, 2018;Onar et al, 2015Onar et al, , 2018Pazvant et al, 2015) and metapodial fractures in dogs (Muir & Norris, 1997).…”
